MELANIE'S CABERNET BURGERS






1 -75O ml bottle of Cabernet (or any nice red wine)
1 tsp butter 1/4 cup minced shallots
2-3 tsp brown sugar ( to taste)
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 tsp salt
1 tsp minced garlic
1 focaccia bread cut into 4 square pieces
2 cups of a nice leafy lettuce
1 tbsp fresh rosemary chopped
1 cup grated sharp cheddar
8 large tomato slices
9 tbsp of soft butter
Preparation:
Boil wine and shallots until reduced to about 3/4 cups. At this point add the sugar and 1 tsp of butter. Mix beef and spices together adding 1/4 cup of wine sauce.
Mix thoroughly and shape into patties. Grill the patties over meduim heat brushing frequently with the remainder of the wine sauce. Top the patties with cheddar.
Mix 9 tbsp of butter with the rosemary to create a wonderful rosemary butter. Cut the focaccia bread in half and spread with the rosemary butter then grill for a few
seconds. Assemble your burger together for a fantastic and unforgettable meal. Serve this great meal with a side of warm potato salad, grab another bottle of the same
red wine you used for the burgers and enjoy.
